Another NHL season that didn't start.

I think everyone saw this coming. Not sure how the owners, the league, or the players didn't. Or probably more appropriately, I'm not sure how any of those parties saw what was on the horizon but didn't feel any pressing need to negotiate before it was too late to accomplish much before the seasons was to begin.

A lot of people think the league is at fault. "That damned Gary Bettman..." and all that crap. Think about that for just a minute.

Would we have hockey in the markets in which hockey currently exists without Bettman?

No.

Would the players be lining up to get as big a piece of the pie as they have indicated if it had not been for changes Bettman has made?

Umm, no.

Truth is - no matter WHO was in Bettman's position, he would be vilified by the blind masses - probably mainly democrats (OOH! OOH! Yes! I said it!) who think that even though SOMEONE started a business (without which, incidentally, you would have no job and hence, no income) THEY deserve not only more than they're currently being paid, but they also have the right to tell the business owner HOW the income will be distributed.

Two of the things that bother me most are;

Who do you hear badmouthing Donald Fehr? That's right. No one. The NHL side of the equation has not involved themselves in the Kris Versteeg type of damnation. Of course, having heard Versteeg sing, it's probably good that he's exploring other avenues. Here's a tip, Kris. Negotiating ain't your forte either. Keep looking, bud.

Or better yet, stick to hockey and do what you can to get the season going!

Second point; Roman Hamrlik wants to get a deal done and get the season going. Why? No matter. He's labeled a sell-out by other NHL players a ridiculed for his stance. Maybe Kris Versteeg could go break out all his car windows and that'd teach him, wouldn't it?

NHL.com has released reports outlining statements from some of the owners who were present at the last players/owners only meeting.

There were statements released from (I believe) four of those owners present. Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs doesn't have a statement showing up. Wonder why? He's reportedly one of the biggest jerks among the owners. The applies to both the other owners as well as the players. Jacobs apparently has his interests at heart and no one else.

Can we impeach this dipstick?

The whole thing boils down to two things. The owners and the league are selfish, unaware idiots and the players are selfish, unaware, lazy, sheep-like idiots. They're heading for the cliff - being led by Donald Fehr - and I really hope everyone wakes up before they do the Lemming thing
